PRELIMINARY NOTICE
The INTAILRISK database contains all information that has been collected by the Project: ASSESSMENT OF ENVIRONMENTAL RISK FOR USE OF RADIOACTIVELY CONTAMINATED INDUSTRIAL TAILINGS (INTAILRISK), as well data resulting from experiments related to the activities of the Project as previously existing information. The data are arranged according to the tree structure that is shown below. It covers all items that have been investigated in order to achieve the objectives of the Project which consist in assessing and quantifying the risk for health of the population and for the environment of the presence of radionuclides in the wastes of coal mines and coal burning plants, and aluminium industry in the Western Balkan countries. It considers the direct risk resulting from the wastes in their immediate neighbourhood, the risk from dispersal in the environment particularly through surface and groundwater, as well as the environmental and the health risk of industrial by-products that are based on the waste material.

Several test sites have been investigated in the 5 Western Balkan Countries. The project intends to integrate the results obtained on all test sites in order to obtain a complete view of the risk resulting from the wastes. For this reason, the investigations on each test site have been focusing on specific aspects according to the characteristics of the test site. Consequently, not all data sets that are included in the tree structure are necessarily existing for each test site specifically.
